Ceresit CM 16 mortar is used for fixing ceramic tiles (glazed tiles, terracotta, porcelain stoneware), cement and stone tiles (except marble) on deformable substrates. CM 16 is recommended for fixing tiles on flaccid partition walls, heated floors, facades, terraces and balconies. The high adhesion of the mortar makes it recommended for tiles with absorbability < 3 %, e.g. porcelain stoneware, and for fixing tiles on critical substrates (indoors only): existing tiles, strong and well adherent paint coatings, gypsum substrates, anhydrite substrates, cellular concrete. Tiles made of marble and other coarse crystalline rocks should be fixed with Ceresit CM 16 WHITE mortar.

The CM 16 mortar can be applied to load-bearing and dry substrates, free from adhesion-reducing substances (such as grease, bitumen, dust):
- concrete (more than 3 months old, moisture content less than 4%),
- screeds and cement plasters, cement-lime plasters (at least 28 days old, moisture content less than 4%),
- cellular concrete, dust-repelled, primed with CT 17,
- gypsum plasterboards - primed with Ceresit CT 17,
- Strong and well adherent paint coats, sanded with sandpaper, vacuumed and primed with CT 17,
- anhydrite (moisture content below 0.5%) and gypsum-based substrates (moisture content below 1%) - sanded, vacuumed and primed with Ceresit CT 17,
- OSB and particle boards (thickness ≥ 22 mm) - sanded mechanically and primed with Ceresit CN 94 or CT 19,
- existing ceramic and stone tiles (only indoors)
- cleaned, degreased and primed with Ceresit CN 94.
Existing dirt, weathered layers and paint coatings of low strength should be removed mechanically. Prime absorbent substrates with Ceresit CT 17 and allow to dry for at least 2 hours. Unevenness of the substrate up to 5 mm may be filled with CM 16 mortar the day before. In case of bigger unevenness and defects - on floors use Ceresit materials from CN group, and on walls - Ceresit CT 29 putty.
